Placenta Encapsulation- TCM or Raw-$200 (Doula clients $150)- includes capsules and cord keepsake.
The placenta encapsulation is done either by the TCM method or Raw. TCM method is done following the 5,000 year old Traditional Chinese Medicine method (TCM) of steaming the placenta, then dehydrating and grinding the placenta into a powder and encapsulating it. Steaming the placenta does not destroy the hormones.
Raw encapsulation skips the steaming/herb process.
Placenta Tincture 4oz-$30
A piece of the placenta is placed in a jar and covered with grain alcohol, kept in a cool dark place, and swirled daily. The placenta is converted into a tincture over a 6 week time. The placenta is strained and the remaining liquid is put into a dark colored glass bottle with a dropper. Placenta tinctures when stored properly will last for 6-12 months.
* Placenta tinctures are traditionally made using 80%-90% grain alcohol (40-50 proof).
Placenta Prints (2)-$25
I also offer placenta prints. Placenta prints are a way to uphold the tradition of honor and gratitude for the birth and the amazing role of the placenta. The print is made before the placenta is washed and prepared for steaming. They are printed with the placenta blood on 13X9 paper. The price includes 2 prints. Many families display them or keep them as keepsakes.
Placenta Salve/Balm 4oz-$30
Placenta salve or balm is a natural extra strength antibiotic ointment. It has a variety of healing herbs and oils that promote healing. It is wonderful on C-section scars, stretch marks, hemorrhoids, perineal tears/episiotomy, cracked/blistered nipples, diaper rash, dry skin, minor cuts and scrapes, and many more.
As a Placenta Specialist I follow all OSHA and EPA guidelines while preparing your placenta. I have my Texas Food Handlers Card and Certification in Bloodborne Pathogen, training specific for placenta handling and OSHA’s standards.
All of the encapsulation services can be completed in your home or mine. Having the encapsulation done in your home will consist of two visits on two consecutive days that last about 3-4 hours each. I bring all the supplies needed as well as clean and sterilize before and after.
The supplies are all stainless steel, food grade plastic, or disposable. Everything is washed with soap and hot water as well as sanitized in a bleach solution. I follow the same cleanliness and sanitation guidelines set for the food industry.
The placenta is sacred, and should be honored for the work it did to nourish your baby while in utero. Working with your placenta is a privilege and as such will be honored during the process of preparation for it to now nourish you.
