Kinesiotaping also known as Fascial Movement Taping. Invented by a Japanese Chiropractor Kenzo Kase in the 1970’s. Kinesio tape lifts the skin to create a space between the dermis and muscle layers. Creating that space takes pressure off the muscles that are swollen or injured. It allows increased blood flow to the muscles, allows smooth muscle movement, and drainage of fluid. Basically, Kinesio tape works by decompressing the fascia and connective tissue and sends a neuromuscular response to the brain by stimulating the skin resulting in less pain perceived.Kinesiotaping is a comfort measure technique, I do not diagnose or provide any medical services.

Kinesiotaping helps pregnant and postpartum women with:

  1. Pain- Providing support and stability and by affecting sensory input.
  2. Support- Supports the weight of the pregnant belly and improves coordination and muscle tone
  3. Stability- Improves moment at joints
  4. Edema-  Decompression of lymphatic channels to encourage fluid drainage.

Kinesiotaping Services

What to Expect: Wear comfortable clothing (yoga pants, maxi skirt, shorts, sports bra). I will work around your clothing and within your personal boundaries. I will spend time explaining how the taping will work as well as care instructions. The first session we discuss your problem areas and we will create a comfort plan for you.

How to care for Tape: After the first hour, it is ok to get the tape wet. After shower/swimming gently pat tape to dry. Do not use a hairdryer to dry tape. Kinesiology tape will last about 5-7 days. It can be used long term to assist with acute pain relief and/or posture problems.

To remove the tape: apply coconut oil and gently roll tape from edges. Do not pull off like you would a band-aid.
