Acupressure is an energetic-based medicine therapy that began around 2500BC. Acupressure is an important aspect of Chinese medicine. The theory is that the body has a natural balance and if the balance gets disturbed, it can cause pain and other unfavorable medical conditions. Acupressure works by unblocking and restoring the flow of “QI or energy” in the body. Acupressure uses precise finger placement and pressure over specific points along the body to minimize emotional or physical discomfort. These points follow specific channels, known as meridians. There are 12 meridians in the body. Each meridian is vital for keeping qi in balance.
Pain and other medical conditions can be a result of this qi imbalance. The symptoms of qi imbalance may not necessarily be noticed in the parts that the qi resides. Applying Acupressure to the correct points on the body will unblock and restore the flow of qi in the meridian. When the qi flow is restored the patient should notice an immediate improvement in their symptoms. Our qi can get disrupted or unbalanced due to externalities beyond our control such as pregnancy.
Pregnancy is hard on our bodies and emotions. Acupressure can greatly help relieve these discomforts.
Acupressure during pregnancy promotes a more positive pregnancy experience by helping to elevate many pregnancy discomforts.
During labor Acupressure can help promote a natural, shorter, more comfortable and positive birth experience.
Acupressure can help during the postpartum period by helping promote a faster postpartum recovery.
Acupressure will give the birth partner more tools to play an active role in the pregnancy, birth, and postpartum period. And bring them closer together as a family.
